The Email Charter is a simple list of ten best practices regarding email. Email is a wonderful tool, but like any tool it can be used poorly (which for most of us is the majority of the time). The solution isn’t to get rid of email like some overly ambitious pundits have suggested, the solution is to actually agree to use the tool more effectively.

Words Matter
Whether for marketing, ministry, or just having a conversation, the words you choose make a big difference. Proverbs 18:21 speaks to the power of what we say for good or ill– it’s your choice. Further, with our society so inundated by media, we are trained to ignore bad copy simply because there is so much of it. So if you want to get your message out, you need to make sure to communicate it effectively.
This video illustrates what a difference can make when you take the same message but present in a different way.
This is an interesting take on the conference call. As a remote worker with a distributed team, I’m no stranger to conference calls. I usually use FreeConference.com as an easy no-frills way to put together a quick call. Admittedly an access code is not the most convenient way, but it’s also not that difficult to manage. Plus, I don’t know how something like bridg.me would handle extensions for example. Still looks like a good idea overall.

A Little Bit of Everything
One thing I’ve always had trouble with is focusing on just one thing: one major course of study, one profession, one thing to eat at a buffet. My RSS reader overflows daily with posts on topics ranging various topics, and I have stacks of books that I’ve bought but still have to read…all these on topics ranging from news & current events, business, theology, music & worship, and more.
For example, I’m currently exhibiting at the Mid-America Trucking Show for Layover.com and The Truckers Helper. At the same time I registered for the Worship God Conference hosted by Sovereign Grace Ministries. In the past few months I’ve played symphony concerts and even attended one on the complete other end of the spectrum (my ears are still recovering from that one). I may be building a great new tool help Truckers one minute and building pages about championship tennis the next. In my day job I don’t have the luxury of occupying a single role because we’re a small company, but it can be nice to do something different from time to time.
Hello World!
So, I have been telling myself for years that I need to build a new website, but sadly I just never found the time. There have just been too many other priorities, but I’m finally taking the plunge. This site currently has no design or much content to speak of (and may not for awhile), but it is a start and can evolve over time.
